Lubbock Power & Light (LP&L) and the City of Lubbock Water Department are committed to improving the reliability and capacity of our systems and ensuring the best possible service for our customers.
As part of our commitment, LP&L is installing approximately 107,000 advanced electric meters and the Water Department is installing approximately 85,000 advanced water meters throughout both service territories over the next 12 to 15 months at no additional cost to our customers.
Because customer safety is our top priority, we are contracting with licensed, trained technicians from Compass Metering Solutions to install the meters and ensure all safety codes and procedures are followed.
If you have questions about advanced meters, please email us at AMIinstall@mail.ci.lubbock.tx.us or call City of Lubbock Utilities at 806-775-2509.
What to Expect During the Installation Process
City of Lubbock Utilities is contracting with licensed, trained technicians from Compass Metering Solutions to install advanced water and electric meters throughout the City of Lubbock Water and LP&L electric service territories. Installation is underway and will be completed in phases throughout the year.
- When the authorized workers visit your home to install your electric or water meter, they will first knock on your door to let you know they are starting the installation.
- You do not need to be home for the installation, but workers will need access to your electric and/or water meter.
- Following their visit, a doorhanger will be placed on your residence letting you know whether or not they were able to complete installation.
- If they weren’t able to complete installation, the doorhanger will contain details and instructions for getting in touch with City of Lubbock Utilities to schedule the installation.
